This architectural detail showcases one of the unique and pristinely captivating architectural elements found at the court: the Spiral Staircase. Worthy of note with this shot, in-camera color calibration was used to eliminate the distracting color cast by the sodium vapor lights in the stairway. Sodium-vapor lights are used for their electric efficiency, but shine a limited color spectrum that often looks distracting in photos. Each type of lighting comes with it's own challenges that often show up as color casts in photos. Another architectural photographer's trick when dealing with multiple light sources is by using multiple exposures and shooting only one light type at a time.
